I have been a functioning alcoholic for the past several years. However, my condition has gotten worse and I really need help. I want to check myself into rehab but I’m afraid to tell my boss because I’m scared he’ll fire me and then I’ll be out of a job with no money. Do I have any rights or protections??

I have worked for my employer since 2016. I applied for FMLA to care for my elderly mother who is almost 100 years old. It was denied. I have worked more than 1250 hours for this company in the past year, and have not taken any other medical leaves ever. I also have other labor law issues with this company and I feel they are retaliated against me. What can I do?

Can my company fire me because of medical leave?

I was on worker’s compensation, then a month later applied for FMLA to care for my sick and old parents. While waiting for the FMLA to be approved, my company came up with a false reason to fire me. I was a good employee for over 5 years… can they do this?

I got hurt and need time off for surgery. I got approved for medical leave from my work, but my manager seemed frustrated that I won’t be working for a few weeks. He said a lot of negative things about work that won’t get done and the extra work he and the rest of the employees will have to take on while I’m out. Now that I am about to start my leave, he has already started talking about hiring someone to do my job while I’m gone. I’m scared I might be completely replaced and not have a job to come back to. What are my rights?

I was in a car accident last year and have been out on leave for the past 15 months. My employer just sent me a letter stating that I am being terminated. Isn’t that illegal? I thought that they can’t fire you when you are on a leave.
